Common problems
Dishwasher Problems We Fix
-
Standing water
Likely cause: Water left in the tub usually means a clogged filter, a blocked drain hose or a failed drain pump. A clogged garbage disposal connection can also stop the water from leaving.
-
Dishes still dirty
Likely cause: Spray arms with blocked holes cannot reach the dishes. A weak circulation pump or a water inlet valve that lets in too little water gives the same poor result.
-
Leaking at the door
Likely cause: A hard or torn door gasket is one cause. Too many suds from the wrong soap, or a spray arm that is cracked, can push water past a good seal.
-
Dishes stay wet
Likely cause: Many models dry with a heating element or a small fan and vent. When one of those fails, plates and cups come out dripping.
-
Will not start
Likely cause: The door latch must click shut before the cycle will begin, and a worn latch often keeps the machine from starting. A blown thermal fuse or a control panel fault can do it too.
-
Grinding or buzzing
Likely cause: Bits of glass or a fruit pit caught in the pump can grind loudly. A steady buzz with no water moving often points to a pump motor that is stuck.

Our process
How a Dishwasher Repair Visit Works
-
Before we come
We ask what the dishwasher does and does not do, and whether the sink beside it drains well. Please leave any standing water in place so we can see it.
-
Find where the water stops
The technician follows the water through the machine, from the inlet valve to the pump, spray arms and drain, and checks the heater and door latch.
-
You approve the cost
We name the failed part and tell you the full repair cost. Then you decide, with no work started until you give the word.
-
Repair and full wash
Once repaired, the dishwasher is run through fill, wash and drain. We check under the unit and at the door for any drips.
Dishwasher Repair Across Houston
Water around here carries a fair amount of dissolved minerals. Over time that leaves white scale on the heating element, in the spray arm holes and on your glasses. Scale also shortens the life of the inlet valve and the pump seals. Because the weather is humid for much of the year, a dishwasher that does not dry well can also start to smell, since moisture stays trapped inside between loads.

Questions
Dishwasher Repair Questions
What can I safely check before I call?
Pull out the bottom rack and clean the filter at the base of the tub if your model has one. Make sure nothing is blocking the spray arms from turning. Also run the garbage disposal to clear the shared drain.
Why is there a white film on my glasses?
It is most often mineral scale from hard water. Rinse aid helps, and so does making sure the water is hot enough. If the film appeared all at once, a part such as the heater may have failed.
Can I keep using a dishwasher that leaks a little?
We suggest you stop. Even a small leak can soak the floor under the cabinets where you cannot see it, and that damage is costly and slow to dry in humid weather.
Does the technician need to pull the dishwasher out?
Sometimes. Many parts can be reached from the front or from inside the tub. If the unit has to come out, we take care of the water line, drain hose and mounting screws.

I am very pleased with this company’s performance and their tech, Isa, was very kind and respectful. He was knowledgeable and very quick to get started and courteous with his work. He cleaned up everything after, I couldn’t even tell that he moved the washer. The machine is fixed and working perfectly. Thank you so much!

Taghi was so very helpful to my family! Our washing machine was full of water and I tried everything I could think of, but I could not get the water to drain. Taghi was at my house in less than two hours. He found the problem right away, made the repairs, and cleaned everything up. All of this was on a Saturday! I am so very thankful! I promptly put Optimal Appliance Repair’s number in my phone for my next appliance emergency!
