Will not drain
Likely cause: A sock or coin stuck in the drain pump is the usual suspect. A kinked drain hose or a worn pump motor can also leave water standing in the tub.

Will not spin
Likely cause: On many machines the lid switch or door lock has to prove the door is shut before the drum will spin. A stretched drive belt, a worn motor coupling or an unbalanced load can stop the spin too.

Shakes or bangs
Likely cause: Heavy banging during spin often means the suspension rods or shock absorbers are worn out. A machine that is not level on the floor can walk and knock as well.

Leaks water
Likely cause: Water at the front of a front-loader usually comes from a torn door boot. Water at the back can come from the fill hoses, the inlet valve or the drain hose connection.

Stops mid-cycle
Likely cause: A washer that quits partway through may have a faulty water level sensor, a door lock that drops out or a control board fault. Some machines also pause when they cannot drain in time.

Likely cause: Odor often builds in the door seal and in the drain pump filter where lint and soap collect. Slow draining can leave dirty water behind, which makes the smell worse.

My washer is full of water. What should I do?
Leave the door or lid closed and turn the machine off. If you can do it safely, shut the two water taps behind the washer. We drain the tub as part of the visit.
Can I keep using a washer that shakes?
It is better to stop. Hard shaking can damage the tub, the floor and nearby pipes, and worn suspension parts get worse with each load.
Why does my front-loader leave soap on clothes?
Too much detergent is one common reason, mainly with high-efficiency machines that use little water. Low water flow from a clogged inlet screen or a weak pump can also leave residue behind.
Do I need to empty the laundry room before the visit?
Just clear a path to the washer and move items off the top. If the washer is stacked or in a tight closet, mention it when you call so we come prepared.
